Richard “Dick” Noble was born Oct 15, 1950 to Hazel and Earl Noble in Sandpoint, Idaho. Dick was the third child of six kids and grew up on the family farm in Sandpoint. He was raised on hard work, milking cows and playing in Sand Creek behind the Noble homestead.
A proud graduate of Sandpoint High School, Dick went on to attend college at Rick’s College and BYU and serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Southern England.
Upon his return from overseas, Dick began a long career as a railroad man working his entire career for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railway.
After adopting 2 kids from a previous marriage, Dick met Davina Christie who also had 2 kids. They combined families and were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple on March 24, 1979. Over the next 11 years they added 3 boys bringing the happy total to 7. They moved from Moscow, ID to Clarkston, WA to Sandpoint, ID before settling in Wenatchee, WA where his kids graduated high school.
Tragically, Dick lost his dear wife Davina to cancer in 2002. He later married Corrine Shakespeare in 2010. They lived in Kent, WA for several years before moving to the Tri- cities. This marriage recently ended in divorce.
Dick was known for his ability to play Santa, strike up conversation, barbecue chicken, drive too fast, his commitment to his religion, his brownies, his legendary facial hair, his love of hot chocolate and all things Christmas. He was an active scout leader, a member of a bishopric, a faithful home teacher, a devoted friend, a loving and ever present grandpa. Above all he loved the Lord and loved others.
Dick passed away July 22, 2020 in Seattle following unanticipated side effects related to back surgery. Upon learning of his death, there was an outpouring of love and memories shared. “Everyone’s friend” “best Santa ever” “a warm amazing man” “kindest, most gentle” “I don’t know a better man” “one of the all time greats” were just some of the words used to describe him. He will be missed dearly by those that knew him.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife Davina Noble, his mother Hazel Noble and 3 grandchildren. He is survived by his father Earl Noble, his 5 siblings: (Dave Noble (Chris), Mel (Tim) Juett, Darrell (Robyn) Noble, Frank (Trina) Noble, Marcia (Keven) Naylor); seven children: (Janice (Greg) Adams, Sam Noble, Charity (Richard) Harris, Tara Noble, Allen (Erin) Noble, Andrew (Katrina) Noble and Rick (Erinn) Noble).
