Surviving are son Michael Robert McCoy and spouse Rhonda, grandsons’ Mitch, Mason and Miller McCoy of West Des Moines, Iowa and daughter Karen Lynn McCoy and spouse Paul Cowles of Kigoma, Tanzania and grandchildren Ryan and Torie Cowles.
As a child, Bob spent a lot of time with both sets of grandparents and particularly enjoyed being on the Huff family farm with his Aunt Helen Mays. As a high school athlete Bob was well known for his prowess in baseball and basketball and was also enrolled in ROTC. Bob was a graduate of Bainbridge High School (1952) and Capital University, Ohio (1956) graduating with a degree in Biology and was very active on the Baseball Team.

They moved to Pensacola FL where he was inducted into the Navy pilot training program. After the Navy he went to work with his father-in law in the insurance industry and remained in the insurance and finance industry for 23 years before becoming an individual business owner. They raised their children in St Louis Missouri, Springfield Missouri and Omaha Nebraska and he taught them his love for the outdoors, and they enjoyed many wonderful, camping and fishing trips together, often around Yellowstone National Park.
He and Karen retired to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1998, and emersed themselves into the community. Bob was a lifetime conservative and avid conservationist and was a terrific fly fisherman, tying his own flies and always quick to help others learn the sport. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and served on the Idaho Panhandle Resource Advisory Committee and was recognized for his dedication to the environment, by the US Forest Service.
The family will have a private memorial service June 22, 2022. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Yellowstone Forever (https://www.yellowstone.org).
