Robert (Bob) Meadows

Born in Fort Pierce, SD August 16, 1925, died in Chula Vista, CA April 1, 2019 at the age of 93.

At the age of 18 in 1943, Bob began service in the US Navy and then the Merchant Marines until the mid-1950’s His service gave him the education to become an Electrical Engineer. While in the service, he married Marion Chapman on June 20, 1952 in Baltimore MD. After his education, he began work with San Diego Gas and Electric until his retirement in 1980, then he and Marion moved to her family home in North Idaho on the Pend Oreille River.  Marion preceded him in death in 1993.

In 1996, Bob married Emily Wallingford, who he had known in their childhood in Lemon Grove, CA.  Bob and Emily shared a home in Hemet, CA as well as the home in North Idaho. They enjoyed traveling together.  Emily died in California in 2017.

Bob enjoyed sailing as a young man in California. He and Marion would visit her parents, Maude and Dick Chapman, during summer vacations and he would help them operate the Laclede Ferry.

Bob enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors in North Idaho.  He especially enjoyed turkey and moose hunting with his good family friend Ed Hutton. He was a member of the local Grange and on the Board of the Seneaquoteen Cemetery.  He mostly enjoyed his family, neighbors, and friends.

Also preceding him in death are his parents, Edward and Daphne, and 2 brothers Edward and Gerald (Mary).

He is survived by nephews Mark and Ronald. Surviving family members of Bob and Marion are: granddaughter Laura Gregg Holman (Bob) and grandson Steven R Gregg and great-granddaughter Rachel Holman-Langseth (Eric). Surviving family members of Bob and Emily are daughters Debbie Dupree (Dan) and Andreanna Jovan (Pennie); grandchildren Gary (Maronna), Tammy, Ward (Kristin), Daniel, and Richard. Great-grandchildren Emmaline, Mina, and Ward.

Services will be through Coffelt Funeral Service at Seneaquoteen Cemetery 2:30pm Saturday, April 13, 2019.  Dale Coffelt will be officiating.
