Ronald "Ron" Converse

Ronald “Ron” Lee Converse, 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.   Family services will be held in the future.

Ron, a Sandpoint native, was born in Sandpoint, on August 21, 1948.  He grew up in the area and attended local schools.  He worked in the area sawmills, retiring as a certified lumber grader.  On January 22, 1966 he married Cathy Breeden in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  She preceded him in death in 2007.

He loved the outdoor life of North Idaho, enjoyed hunting, and fishing, in the area and sharing his “hunting stories” with anyone that would listen.  He also enjoyed getting in the firewood, picking huckleberries and finding mushrooms.

He enjoyed competitive shooting, competing nationally in Camp Peary, Ohio; and at the age of 16 was ranked 7^th in the world.  He loved working with wood, completing cabinets, and church crosses, locally.

He is survived by his 4 children Carl (and Lisa Converse; Glen (and Christine) Converse; Lori Ann (and Shane) Hannaman; Courtney (and Paul) Converse; his sister Diane Parker in Meridian, ID;  also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents Dan and Madeline Converse.
