Ruth Ann Bosley

February 5, 1944 — November 27, 2017

Ruth Ann Bosley passed away peacefully on November 27, 2017. She was born February 5, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa to Calvin and Helen Hayes. Ruth grew up in South Sioux City, Nebraska with her sister Vivian Rose.   She was raised riding horses which became a passion she passed on to her children and husband. She was an accomplished figure skater, and along with her father and sister, performed in many competitions including qualifying for the Olympic Trials.   Ruth graduated with a BS Degree in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska where she was also a member of Alpha Chi Omega. Upon graduation she moved to Chicago and became the head of the Biochemistry Laboratory at Passavant Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University Medical Center. It was there that she met her husband, Roger, an Ob-Gyn resident. They married September 13, 1969 in her parent’s garden.   Ruth and Roger lived in Asmara, Ethiopia from 1970-1972 where their first daughter Rachael Alta was born. From Ethiopia, they moved to Eureka, California where Roger began an Ob-Gyn private practice. In California, their second daughter Rebecca Helen was born. In 1974 they moved to Lafayette, Indiana to join the Woman’s Clinic   Ruth was a wonderful mother to her two daughters. She was an active tennis player, skier and horseback rider. She was a Field Master for Romwell Fox Hounds and a longtime member of First Christian Church.  She loved her Harley motorcycle and enjoyed riding the country roads in Battle Ground. Every dog she ever owned was spoiled rotten and never left her side.     In 2006, Ruth and Roger retired to Sandpoint, Idaho on Schweitzer Mountain where they skied in the winter and went boating on Lake Pend Oreille in the summer. On the shoulder seasons they traveled the country in their RV.   Ruth will be forever cherished by her husband of 48 years, her children, her sons-in-law (Jim and John), and grandchildren (Bosley, Hayes, Samantha, and Nick). Future services are planned for Lafayette, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Humane Society.
