Sally Washburn

November 15, 1939 — November 6, 2017

Sally Williams WASHBURN Sally Williams Washburn, 77 years old of Hope, Idaho and her beloved Puli pup, Remy, unexpectedly returned to the Good Shepherd on October 25th, 2017.  We will miss her terribly.  Sally was kind to everyone she met, generous, faithful, loving, so fun and a light in all of our lives.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.   We were all blessed by Sally’s birth on November 15th, 1939. Her parents were both immigrants, her father from England and her mother from Ireland, who came to the US in their late teens and settled in Westbury, NY, where they raised their two daughters Sally and Eleanor.  Sally attended St. Brigid Catholic School and Westbury High School.    Sally, along with 5 of her girlfriends headed west to California where Sally met her husband who she was married to for almost 40 years and where she also had a wonderful 38 year teaching career. Sally believed in living every day to the fullest and she loved her family, amazing friends, and the beautiful home she and her husband built together in 1995.    Not a day would go by that she didn’t comment on how blessed she was to live in her log cabin built with her “dear husband Frank in beautiful Northern Idaho”.  Over the years in Hope, she built an awesome community of friendships.  She enjoyed the Monday Hikers, the Breakfast Bunch, the Garden Club, the Prime timers, the Homemakers, being an ombudsman for the elderly and most importantly her Catholic faith and the prayer chain she was involved with.  When her husband Frank was alive, their favorite activity was to RV around our great nation with their beloved Puli pups.   Sally is survived by her son, Mark Washburn (Donna) of Big Bear, CA, daughter Karyn Jensen, granddaughters Taylor and Brooke Jensen of Reno, NV, sister Eleanor Glover of Stonybrook, NY, niece Alisa Kremer - Parrot, grandnieces Erin and Aislinn Parrott of Sayville, NY, nephew Christopher Kremer, and grand niece Samantha Kremer of Center Moriches, NY. A mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clark Fork, ID on Friday, December 1st, at 1:00 pm.  Following the mass, a Celebration of Sally’s life will be held at Trinity Restaurant, 58 Bridge Street, Sandpoint, Idaho from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a special tribute at 5:30 pm.  Her final resting place will be at Skylawn Memorial Cemetery in San Mateo, California. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to your favorite charity or to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind (one of the nations’ foremost guide dog schools), PO Box 709, Yorktown Heights, NY  10598 / www.guidingeyes.org. Sally blessed every life she touched.  She was a torch of shining light in all of our lives.  We have all suffered a very great loss and feel so saddened by her passing but will forever hold her love in our hearts.
