Sharon Louise Brill

December 27, 1932 — March 10, 2018

Sharon Brill, 85, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away peacefully on the evening of March 10, 2018.  Her two daughters, Debra and Molly, were by her side.  Born December 27, 1932, in Everett, Washington, to John and Dorothea Riggs, Sharon was an only child.  She attended local Everett schools, graduating from Everett High School in 1951.  Sharon met and married William Brill in Everett in 1957; they were married for 59 years.  Bill died in July of 2016.  Sharon was also preceded in death by Matthew Jay Brill, the son of Bill and Sharon. In addition to her daughters, Debra Genung (Bruce) and Molly Hustoft (Howard, Sharon was a devoted grandmother to her five grandsons, Ryan, Nate (Sarah), Alex (Kim), Luke, and T.J. Sharon was absolutely thrilled to have two new great-grandchildren, Reed (6 months) and Charlotte (6 weeks).  Sharon is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Pat brill of Washington.  Sharon had a professional career in the mortgage industry, before retiring in 1989 to Sandpoint.  She enjoyed skiing and was known for the speed and grace on the ski hill; She was a long time member of Schweitzer Prime timers ski club.  Sharon was also a dedicated CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for ten years, serving as a voice for vulnerable children in the Bonner County court system.  Her commitment to helping her CASA kids settle into safe and loving homes was inspiring.  In addition, Sharon was an active volunteer with the Community Assistance League and their volunteer fun thrift shop, Bizarre Bazaar, in Sandpoint.  Sharon loved to read and belonged to book clubs nearly all her life, including two in Sandpoint.  She loved to entertain and organize social events with her friends and family.  Sharon was also a hiker and loved boating in the San Juan Islands.  Sharon was a good friend, always remembering special occasions with cards and notes.  Sharon was devoted to her dog, Barney, Who has been adopted by close family friends. Sharon will be missed tremendously. There will be a celebration of Sharon’s life at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 2, 2018 on the South Lawn at Trinity at City Beach, 58 Bridge Street Sandpoint, ID.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Community Assistance League of Sandpoint, the Sandpoint Library, Panhandle Animal Shelter, or a charity of your choice.
