Skyler Aaron Borges came in to this world on September 2nd, 2019, yet he had already been making an impact on so many lives for months before.
At a routine 20 week ultrasound, the Borges family was given the news that little Skyler was not developing well and with further testing was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a condition caused by a parent passing two of the 18th chromosome to the child instead of one. This small fluke in development caused Skyler to have multiple abnormalities in his tiny organs and full dependency on mom for life.
Despite this diagnosis, his parents, Chris and Annette Borges, were determined to allow Skyler to have as much time in this life as God would bless him with not knowing with each passing day when that time would end.
With their four children, Dustin, Hunter, Riley, and Liam, the Borgeses cherished the precious time they had with Skyler, admiring his ultrasound pictures, listening to his heart beating through a doppler in the evenings, and sharing his story with their supportive community. Through this, Skyler began to live out his God given purpose.
His story brought truth and understanding to so many. From friends and family to grocery store clerks and strangers sharing a park bench, it allowed people to see a part of life that is often taken for granted. It also helped others to continue their own healing from losses in their lives. Most of all, the graces from God upon Skyler’s family when sharing his story is what touched peoples hearts so deeply. Their remarkable strength, courage, and faith were inspiring. Their love for Skyler was unexplainable.
When Skyler’s story was first shared, the prayers poured in. From all walks of faith and all stages of life, prayers for Skyler and his family brought unity to people all over the world. These works of God through them proves Skyler to be our “Little Saint”. He truly impacted the world.
Though so tiny, Skyler grew happily in his mother’s womb, kicking and turning, bringing joy to his parents and siblings when they felt him.
On September 1st, 2019, the prayers increased as the day had come for little Skyler to meet his family and at 12:44 am on September 2nd, he was born into this world and baptized by his father in the catholic rite.
Not knowing what each day would bring, the Borges’ prayers were answered and they got to meet their precious boy. God gifted 3 memorable hours of life to this wonderful family. With alertness and wonder, Skyler met his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncle. Each taking a turn to hold him with smiling faces. Joy and love filled the hospital room. It was undoubtedly miraculous.
Skyler’s last breath was taken in the comfort of his mother’s loving arms with his father and siblings beside them. God’s purpose for him was completed and he was welcomed with joy into the kingdom of heaven.
Skyler Aaron Borges’ brief time on earth will always be remembered. Please join his family on Saturday September 14th, 2019 at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church 601 S.
