Susan Kay (Patrick) Norman

April 3, 1949 — June 20, 2019

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, child of God . . . Susan Kay Patrick Norman returned home on June 20, 2019. She was born into this world on April 3, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Peter Bernard Patrick and Hazel Marie Bratty Patrick.

Susan grew up in Philadelphia; however, her family also lived in Naples, Italy, and in Connecticut while her father was serving in the U.S. Navy.

She married her childhood friend, Stanley Norman, on June 12, 1971 in Croydon, Pennsylvania. Sue settled and made their home in several states as husband Stan served in the U.S Coast Guard for 22 years; after which Federal Way, Washington, was home for 12 additional years.  The couple re-settled in Sandpoint in 2008 when Stan was appointed pastor of the Sandpoint United Methodist Church.

Sue loved to help people.  She was a licensed cosmetologist, worked as a medical secretary, certified nursing assistant, and medical billing assistant. For the last 10 years she was the face of Audiology Research Associates in Sandpoint, greeting and caring for their many clients. Locally she donated her time and talents at The Cottage thrift store, which benefits Panhandle Special Needs clients. Sue also sponsored a child in Haiti through World Vision as a part of the local ministry in which she participated, follow ~ a community.

Along with helping to raise their two sons, Sue loved to craft, garden, and cook.  She never passed through a room she didn’t plan to redecorate.  She loved wildlife, flowers and the lake. Always close to her heart, over the years, were her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and canine family members Loki and Max.

Sue is survived by her brother, Peter Kevin Patrick, her husband, Stanley Norman, sons Derek and Patrick, and grandchildren, David and Katey.  Also missing her is Maggie, the wonder dog!

A private celebration of Sue’s life will be held later this summer.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Humane Society or the Panhandle Animal Shelter.
