Thomas Bernard Peters “Tom”, was born on May 19, 1930 in San Francisco, CA and went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 23, 2022 in Sandpoint, ID.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Heinsen of Christ Our Redeemer Luther Church officiating
Tom graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1948, was in the Navel reserves, became a journeyman iron worker and ornamental iron worker, and discovered his passion as a wildland fireman and Volunteer Fireman and Assistant Chief for the Felton, CA Volunteer Fire Department.
He met his sweetheart when she was two weeks old, and neighbors in San Francisco. Years later he proudly took her to the 1950 Prom at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in his 1931 Chevy Coup. They were happily married on January 23, 1954 in San Francisco, and they made their home in Felton, CA.
Tom and Jackie raised their three daughters Christine “Chris” Iverson (Scott), Nanette “Nan” Brothers (Tom) and Louise Driggars (Bob) in Felton.
Tom retired from the California Department of Forestry in 1984 and ramped up his passion for Chevy car restoration, including a 1931 Chevy Coup (Award Winning), ‘22 490 Roadster, ‘28 4 Door Sedan, ‘27 Capitol Woody, ‘30 4 Door Sedan, ‘62 Nova Super Sport Convertible, and a ‘65 Impala. They were very active in the VCCA and traveled in their numerous cars to antique Chevy tours all over the U.S. Tom always seemed to put his 1927 Ford Model T on the backburner.
Tom and Jackie moved to the Selle Valley full time in 2003 to be closer to their family.
Tom and Jackie have six grandchildren, whom they whole heartedly supported. Naomi & Jared Kimbrel (Audrey & Paul), Renee & Matt Melle (Temperance & Timothy), Dr. Michelle Brothers, 2nd Lieutenant Pauline Brothers, Caytlin & Ryley Reese (Elizabeth & Evelyn and baby on the way), Phillip & Brittney Driggars (Molly, Weston, Ethan & baby girl on the way).
