Vincent Edmund Werhner

May 13, 1940 — April 6, 2025

Sagle, Idaho

Vincent Edmund Werhner, 84, passed away on Sunday, April 6th in his home in Sagle.

Vincent was born in Queens, New York, to Edmund and Helen Werhner. The eldest of 4 children, he will be missed by his siblings: Edmund Werhner, Frank Werhner, and Barbara Reid, who will be waiting for him in heaven. He will also be missed by all his caring neices and nephews.

Vinnie has been a lifelong craftsman. He started with a newspaper route when he was 10, rain or shine, he was dependable and shared his earnings with his family. He owned his own gas station, was a volunteer firefighter, and started his own business; VJC electrical and mechanical, and worked both residential and industrial. He always had a talent and creative edge in figuring out complex building projects.

Vinnie was a loving father and husband. He raised a family in NY, with Edna Sohl, where he would boat in the Long Island sound, dig clams on the shore, spend time in upstate NY building and refurbishing a home in Jewitt, and had many great memories at the cabin in Lake George.

As a man of many talents, Vinnie not only built his own speed boat, but learned to fly a plane and flew up and down the East coast. After his divorce, he found a passion for the German Oktoberfest and frequently went to Europe to take part in the celebrations with his best friend, Paul Weichselbaumer.

After he met Lorraine Cosgrove in 1992, the happy couple moved west together and Vinnie started a new business called Northlake Construction. He has had a part in building and repairing homes and businesses in Sandpoint and the surrounding community. He is known for his winning personality, and his “no problem” attitude. In any direction, you can see one of Vinnie’s many projects in and around the Sandpoint area.

Vinnie loved to cook, and many have enjoyed his delicious Italian food, his knack for grilling meat, and his ability to cook for an army and send everyone home with leftovers.

Vincent is survived by Lorraine Cosgrove, and by his children, Jo-Ann (Brian) Lambert, Cheryl (Stephen) Coffman Werhner, and Vincent (Noelle) Werhner, as well as his grandchildren, Katie, Jessie, Elizabeth and Alixandria.

He will also be missed by Lorraine’s children: Linda (Pat) McInerney, and James (Tara) Cosgrove, and her grandchildren: Patrick, Joseph,John, Grace, and Alice

Vinnie is held with love by his family, the Sandpoint community, and the many friends he’s made all over the world.

There will be a Celebration of Life held for Vinnie in July. Date to be announced.
